The second edition of the Human Right Watch Film Festival ends today with a screening of Call Me Kuchu.
From Jason Statham's Safe to the new Bond film, Skyfall, and the high speed chase thriller, Premium Rush, here's what to check out at the movies this weekend.
Last week, Nairobi Half Life finally stopped showing at the cinemas that premiered the film at the end of August, Planet Media in Westgate, ending the longest theatrical run for a local film.
Starflix Cinemas is the first theatre chain in Kenya to bring American thriller, Premium Rush to the big screen. The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises, Looper), Michael Shannon (Take Shelter, Revolutionary Road) and Jamie Chung (Once Upon A Time, Sucker Punch).
I've always preferred plays to movies mostly because of the 'realistic' factor and the rawness of it all. Kenyans have always gone H.A.M on theatrical productions. It is actually an African culture that we have had since the beginning of time and we have carried on with it till date.
Nairobi Half Life has enjoyed the longest runs of any local film in the country. Sadly, it comes to an end this.
The best-selling Kenyan novel of all time is currently being adapted for the big screen. Pre-production has already begun on John Kiriamiti's thriller, My Life In Crime.
Never have I seen a movie done dedicated entirely to the post election violence of 2007 that manages to bring out the incidents as lived through by individuals and not just the whole country.
Starflix Cinemas brings you another weekend filled with action-packed, animation, dramatic and romantic films. Check out this weekend's and next week's schedule below.
