Jaguar beats Prezzo to the top Prize

Kenyan musician Jaguar (real name Charles Njagua Kanyi) emerged a winner for the East Africa best song category for the song kigeugeu at the Kilimanjaro Tanzania Music awards 2012.

Jaguar beat Prezzo to the prize, as both were hot contenders tipped to scoop the prize. Other nominees in the category were Nameless, Avril & Marya and Kidum.

The awards Kilimanjaro Tanzania Music awards took place on Saturday night at Mlimani city Conference Hall and 21 accolades were given out to artists who did well on various musical disciplines.

Jaguar took home the award Best East African song for his track “Kigeugeu”which was also contested by Nameless, Kidum Marya& Avril and Prezzo for their tracks 4sho 4 shizzle, Coming Home and Chokoza.


However Jaguar was not at the ceremony and his plaque was collected by a representative of East Africa Television and Radio who said he has was authorized by Jaguar to represent him, as reported by leading Tanzanian entertainment site Bongo 5.

This year’s edition of Kilimanjaro Tanzania Music awards saw artist Diamond Platnumz collecting three awards out of the seven nominations that he had, followed closely by artists Ali kiba, Ommy Dimpoz, Suma Lee and Roma who took home 2 awards each.

The event which is organized by Basata, sponsored by Kilimanjaro Premium Larger and produced by digital arts, saw Queen Doreen, Sarah, Diamond, Khalid chokoraa, Khadija Kopa, TMK Wanaume, Charles Baba, Recho and Bichuka among others, entertain the crowd which comprised of corporate gurus and some Dar entertainment and event socialites.
