On this week's Pulse, Chiquitta went HAM on Camp Mulla, specifically targeting the fact Camp Mulla were not able to travel for the BET Awards ceremony. They had been nominated in the Best International Act: Africa category.
According to Chiquitta, Camp Mulla only managed to get to where they are partly due to their "family connections and friends in high places." She starts, "To be honest, the youthful group Camp Mulla have had an easy ride when it came to being newbies in the industry." She says it is through said connections that the group managed to get interviews (citing their Kiss FM interview from last year) and the fact that they got to open for P-Square "when they were virtual unknowns."
She goes on to mention other things that came easy for the group, like Universal Records and the BET nomination.
She also claims that "Their visas got denied" by the U.S. Embassy. As far as the story goes, sources tell Ghafla! that the Visas were never denied, they just could not be processed in time for the show. Chiquitta insinuates that this incident should be their wake up call to the fact that they are in showbiz and it's not that easy. The group has Chiquitta's vote for the MTV MAMAs, though.
