The first performance of the night under the week’s theme of ‘Transformation’ was by Kenya’s Ruth Matete singing a classic rendition of Angelique Kidjo’s ‘Africa’. This earned her a standing ovation as she also became the only contestant to have survived being nominated for eviction since the fifth season of Tusker Project Fame began.
Rwanda’s Jackson Kalimba performed Bob Marley’s ‘No Woman No Cry’ in a head-to-toe cowboy outfit and struk a chord with both the audience and the faculty. This Swahili and French speaking contestant managed to deliver a great performance despite the fact that he is a French and Kiswahili-speaking contestant.

Sunday’s nomination show yielded a series of mixed but mostly progressive remarks from the judges, faculty, audiences and viewers across East Africa mostly as a testament to the fact that a number of the contestants really have shown immense growth under the mentorship of Principal Hellen Mtawali, Music Director R Kay, Voice Coach Kavutha Mwanzia and Dance Choreographer Edu Ooro.
