At last weekend's MTV African All-Stars party, we were treated to a host of top notch artist performances from all over Africa, including STL, Camp Mulla, Big Nuz, DJ Tira and others.

I have said this before, one of the perks of being a writer here is that you get to attend events and hobnob with people that you had only previously seen on TV. Like STL, I unashamedly stae that I cannot wait to see on stage!

Yesterday Nairobi experienced a very rare occurence, it rained hail and brimstones! Okay just hailstones but it did stop traffic, literally and that happens once in a blue moon! That however did not make it to ten things because my workmates think it's not important. How sad.

If you think Kenyan singer Wyre has been sleeping on the job then think again. The artiste's latest hit single 'Dancehall party' is featured on this week's MTV Base Top 5 at 5.

SOme of the characters of the hugely successful MTV series Shuga: Love Sex and Money are in the capital of the United States, Washington DC, for the #AIDS2012 Conference.

It seems there's no stopping Kenya's Camp Mulla when it comes to global exposure and breaking the barriers of constraint which a number of our country's artistes have encountered in what may be everyone's quest for international stardom.

First the group was set to perform at the launch of Africa's biggest reality TV show, Big Brother Africa, the seventh season then followed their American Black Entertainment Television (BET) Award nomination which they narrowly lost out on. Now Camp Mulla has been nominated for an MTV Iggy 'Artiste of the Week' feature.

MTV Iggy is probably one of the best places to discover any new and upcoming favourite artistes from across the globe in an initiative by Music Television (MTV) to explore music from around the globe from diverse genres which transcend African hip hop to Brazilian baile funk.

What Is MTV Iggy?

Artiste's voted in to be featured as MTV Iggy 'Artiste of the Week' will be prominently featured on the MTV Iggy webiste for an entire week as well as have a 'tell-all' interview.

Alongside Camp Mulla in this week's nominated artistes are other bands from across the globe including Brazil's Leo Justi, Lithuania's Mario and Vidis, Canada's Young Empires and Denmark's Fallulah.

Better get to voting for Camp Mulla as all considerations close on Friday 20th July 2012 at 4.00pm Kenyan Time.

Kenya may remember the concept of drama broadcast on radio thanks to the 80s and 90s broadcasts on Voice of Kenya and KBC Radio. Well, after a long hiatus, radio drama is back with a big bang in the form of Shuga Radio, a series that will span 12 weeks and is the follow-up to the hugely successful television drama Shuga: Love Sex and Money.

This year's Awards mark 25 years of charitable work by One World Media. Other competitors for the Drama Award, alongside Shuga: Love Sex Money are CANANA's Miss Bala and Cinga Production's Otelo Burning. The 2011 winner of the category award was British Channel 4's The Promise.
