5 popular West African Dance Strokes

We all know that West African Musicians came very determined to infect the entire world, and indeed they conquered. They deliver top quality. There is a range of music, with a simple but fun African beat that will make you get off your seat. The question however is; how will you dance to their music?

Here is a list of amazing dance strokes that you can check out on You Tube, and not be left out when you are in the club.

Skelewu: We all know the popular song, Skelewu, by Davide? Well, he gave as the food, and the spoon to eat it with. The skelewu dance  came with it’s song, and can still be used as a dance move for other West African Music.

Etighi: Whether you have hips or not, you have to lift up that bone if you want to do the Etighi. It involves nice left and right consecutive movement of the hips to the rhythm, like in the song, “Kukere”.

Alqaeda: Straight from Ghana, the alqaeda makes use of your arms, shoulders, legs and attitude. No terrorist society will catch you if you know this dance. The steps however need to be mastered carefully.

Shoki: If you do not know this dance move yet, then do not come to the next party with me. I can dance Shoki to every Nigerian beat that plays, because it is that adaptable.

Azonto: This was one of the moves that pioneered the takeover of West African Music. It came with the popular song, “Azonto”, and swept the entire continent. It is fun and playful, and you can do it with all your friends together.
