Maina And King’angi At It Again Today: Discussing The Marriage Act!
Incase you missed it, Maina and King’ang’i were upto there usual antics this morning. And the topic of discussion was the recently passed Marriage Act which has legitimized “Come-We-Stay” marriages after just 6 short months.
And what a ruckus the show generated with men and women competing to be heard either trashing and tearing into or supporting and applauding the Bill respectively. Women obviously sought to lend their voices to the cause and claimed that the law is long overdue.
In typical morning caller fashion, the conversation sunk to new lows with women blaming men for “wasting their time” with one caller waxing poetry about how “If a man wants to dip his pen is her ink he should first put pen to paper and sign a certificate!” i couldn’t help but laugh. Then Uncle Chim slapped himself and refocused. How does a man waste a woman’s time? Isn’t the arrangement mutually beneficial? Don’t both parties consent to live together to reduce costs?

And the women who called in to decry weak Kenyan men should look to the West as my mummy did and find us proud Nigerian men. And trust that in Kenya we are a-plenty! As usual, King’ang’i was hilarious claiming to be flabberghasted, gobsmacked, shocked, perplexed and all that. He couldn’t fathom how women were celebrating such a law. He pointed out that women sometimes refuse to leave a man’s house. This reminded your Uncle Chim of how some lasses have even gone to the extent of cleaning his apartment the morning after.
But back to the topic at hand, Maina was adamant in his support for the Bill and i can understand why he would be. This Bill protects mothers and their offspring from errant and irresponsible men. What do you think about all this?
