WAIT A MINUTE, HAVE GOSPEL SHOWS REALLY CHANGED THAT MUCH?
The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has indeed come a very long way from its inception in 1962. Most of Kenya’s independence upto the early 90s generation grew up being massively influenced by what was broadcast on the channel.
KBC’s first transmitting station was a farm house in Limuru, and decades later, the channel brought us pioneering programming that included Tahamaki, Burden of Proof, Tausi and Vituko.
Speaking of programmes, whatever happened to ‘Joy Bringers’ which was the first ever gospel show Kenyans witnessed? It would be interesting to observe the evolution of gospel shows, such as say Crossover 101 and Kubamba, to how things were way back then.
Let’s go down memory lane and checkout John Ndung’u’s ‘Johana’ as it premiered on KBC’s Joybringers show…
