What Would it Take to Get Lady Gaga to Perform in Kenya?

Akon must be smiling all the way to the bank as Lady Gaga, signed to his Konvict Records, keeps reaping millions from her seemingly bizarre yet oddly appealing super-stardom.

The ‘Marry the Night’ singer had her last tour, the Monster Ball World tour, end in 2011, after her having performed at 119 venues in North America, 63 in Europe and 19 across Asia and the Oceania.

Even though early on in the tour Lady Gaga admitted thaat she was struggling to make a profit off the tour, that didn’t stop the ‘Monster Ball’ from becoming the 16th highest grossing tour in world history with over a total of $227 million. (number 1 being U2’s 360 tour: $776 million).

The tour was so successful that in some places, Gaga performed six different times at teh same venue, which was London’s O2 arena.

The tiny island of Niue has even pledged that ALL of its nations 1,600 population would attend her concert should she set foot on the tiny Pacific island.

“She’s really struck a chord with the kids on the island,” Tourism Minister Mike Hogan told AFP. “She’s so unusual and she thinks outside the box. So we thought we’d think outside the box and invite her here.”

With a single concert on the Monster Ball tour averaging about $1.14 million, (close to Kshs. 90 million), it would be interesting to find out how much a ticket to see this pop queen perform at say, the Carnivore, would go for.
