5 Children Perish in Lightning Strike

Families in Lumakanda, Lugari, are mourning the demise of their five children after they were struck by lightning.

The 5 children are said to have died on the spot after the unfortunate incident.

The children were playing in Lumakanda secondary school playground and when it started raining they ran to a nearby tree where they sheltered only to meet their death.

One of them survived but was badly injured and is admitted at the Lumakanda hospital while bodies of the five were taken to Chevaywa Hospital Mortuary.

The children aged between 7 and 9 years.

Lugari OCPD Benard Macharia has called upon parents to advice their children on what to do during the rainy season so as to avoid such unfortunate incidences.
