Imenti Central MP Finally Charged With Rape

Imenti Central Mp Gideon Mwiti has been charged with rape, intimidation and indecent assault and released on a cash bail of Kshs. 100,000.

The MP was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts early today after investigations into rape allegations leveled against him showed that indeed the victim was raped.

The MP has been a subject of discussion in the country and beyond after a former journalist accused him of raping her in his office in Westlands two weeks ago.

Mwiti denied the charges before resident magistrate Edda Agade. While arguing the case in his defense, Mwiti’s lawyers told the court that the MP was suffering from diabetes and cannot withstand remaining in police custody.

Mwiti was arrested yesterday and locked up in Kileleshwa police station from where he was arraigned in court today.

Adage asked Mwiti and Mwangi Muchiri, the doctor implicated in the case, to appear in court on April 8, when the case will be mentioned.
