The Star’s Oliver Mathenge: Kenyans Were Cheated, ICC Was Not Looking For Me

The Star Newspaper writer has said that Kenyans were misinformed when rumour went round that he would follow Walter Baraza to the corridors of justice in The Hague after he published confidential information about President Uhuru Kenyatta’s case.

Speaking on Mark Maasai’s Press Pass on NTV, Mathenge said that he made it clear that he never leaked any classified information to the public.

He said that the stories he published in the Star newspaper were gotten from a close source in the government and that they were not confidential as alleged.

He said he had responded to the ICC and cleared himself because he believed at the of the publication, the information was already available in the public domain.

Mathenge is believed to have been a close confidant of State House until after President Uhuru was acquitted by the International Criminal Court when he fell out with some people around the president for writing an article where he said he did not imagine Bensouda dropping charges against Uhuru.
