Esther Akoth is more than just your typical musician. Born and bred in the Lakeside city of Kisumu, she is quite possibly one of the most eclectic musicians of our age. She moved to Mombasa in search of a better life after her husband kicked her out of their marriage. She got involved in a lot of business pursuits that saw her setup a slew of business interests as evidenced in Akothee Safaris a flourishing Tours and Travel Company, Morning Star Diani, an establishment that seeks to provide 5 star accommodations at 3 star rates and Akothe & Properties a real estate venture.

A mother of 5 children; Akothe reveals how she rose from poverty to make it in life. She was one a matatu and taxi driver during her hustling life and by her hard work and God’s grace she is now a proud owner of over 15 vehicles comprising of two 27-seater buses, mini-buses and 5 tour land cruiser vans. Her inspirational success story shocked Tanzanian TV which conducted an interview with her late last month.

Akothee even in her success as a Business woman, still felt that she had not done enough to exhaust her talents and abilities in so far as music was concerned, her one true love. She comes from a musical family and the musical spirit resonates quite strongly, and this has inevitably led her into the music scene with emotive hits such as Nimechoka, Pashe and Katika.
