EABL Finally Puts A Stop Illicit ‘Kumi-Kumi’ Brews By Introducing A 10 Shillings Spirit

This is for the guys who want to get high, at a throw-away price without losing their eyesight. East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has introduced a Sh10 spirit into the Kenyan market.

This is due to the pummel the company has taken after their low-end beer Senator Keg faced taxing. The spirit will be known as Jebel Gold, packaged in a keg dispenser whose target market will be Chang’aa drinkers and former Senator keg customers who decided to go for a cheaper brand after the tax was implemented.

“We have recently introduced Jebel Gold, a mainstream spirit, to target low-income consumers who currently drink illicit brews like Chang’aa, an informal distilled spirit.” Charles Ireland, the EABL managing director said.

He then added that “We will fight hard to protect that volume to the greatest extent that we possibly can and to introduce other initiatives to compensate for any shift by consumers as a result of the price increase.Jebel Gold Keg is a direct response to that initiative.”

The low cost alcohol is a remodel of the bottled Jebel brand, which EABL had introduced to the marketplace earlier which cost Sh100 for a 200ml bottle.
