What Will Befall Kenyan Journalist if He Gets Arrested By ICC?
You know sh*t just got serious when the ICC issues a warrant for your arrest. Well things got hot for one journalist when Bensouda asked “for the immediate arrest and transfer of Walter Barasa to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to face criminal charges”
The prosecutor accused the journalist of attempting to bribe witness 536,256 and 336.
According to section 70 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court Criminal Court he has committed an offence against the administration of justice by “Corruptly influencing a witness, obstructing or interfering with the attendance or testimony of a witness, retaliating against a witness for giving testimony or destroying, tampering with or interfering with the collection of evidence”
So what happens if Mr Barasa is arrested? Well according to section 70 of the Rome Statute,” In the event of conviction, the Court may impose a term of imprisonment not exceeding five years, or a fine in accordance with the Rules of Procedure and Evidence, or both
