Eldoret Based Journalist Moves To Court To Stop His ICC Arrest
Eldoret Based Journalist Walter Barasa has moved to court to stop his looming arrest and hand over to the International Criminal Court.
The journalist wants the court to stop Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku’s call for for his arrest claiming that the move would subject him to momentous injustice and cruelty in the hands of ICC
In addition he is seeking orders that will force Inspector General David Kimaiyo to grant him safety measures to shield him from arrest by ICC agents in Kenya.
His lawyer Kibe Mungai filed this appeal for the accused with Barasa adding that“There is no absolute duty upon the government of Kenya to arrest and surrender me to the ICC as the request of the ICC must be considered and determined in accordance with the Constitution of Kenya and the International Criminal Act, 2008.”
