Former Jailbird Using Music & TV to Change Society

After getting immersed in the drugs world, turning into a bank robber and subsequently landing in jail, Patrick Mlati is a reformed man. The ex-convict is now using his talent to fight drug abuse by enlightening the youth about the vice.

Mlati already has three songs under his name; “Magereza” (which talks about his jail experience), “Sema Ni Baba” and “We Need a Change”. So far, he has sold more than 1,000 copies of his singles and he says he’s not stopping there.

Apart from singing, Mlati is also an actor with NTV’s local drama, Beba Beba, in which he has been assigned various roles. Speaking to the Standard, Mlati who is also a talented emcee at youth events revealed that he’s writing music his new music band.
