Renowned Photographer Plans a Demonstration in Nairobi in Support of Police
He’s the guy who brought you, “Kenya Burning”, a photo gallery of the shocking events that took place after the 2007 disputed polls. Boniface Mwangi is back and this time, he’s championing for the rights of the men and women in the blue uniform.
Tomorrow (Thursday 6th December) photo-activist will lead other Kenyans in a peaceful demo in support of the force’s quest for better terms of service and working conditions. Dubbed “Polisi Ni Rafiki”, the demo will take place at Uhuru Park’s Freedom Corner from 10AM. This initiative is also supported by Kenya Ni Kwetu and other individuals who believe that police are human beings too and deserve better treatment.
Boniface Mwangi is also the brains behind “PAWA254”. PAWA254 is Nairobi’s unique new social enterprise and collaborative space for creatives and youth to achieve work of social impact. He’s also the project director of Picha Mtaani whose purpose is to build peace, prevent violence, and mitigation, creation of livelihoods and for promoting peaceful co-existence among Young people in conflict affected centers in Kenya in both rural and informal settlements – in urban centers.
