Nairobi’s Own Film Festival for the Slums
The Slum Film Festival will be held between the 6th and 13th of August in Kibera and Mathare, the biggest slums in Kenya. The Festival features stories made by, or about people living in slums. Besides the films, this year’s festival will also have art classes and film training workshops.
The festival aims to support young and aspiring filmmakers by having them submit their work in the form of films, music videos, public service announcements and community news. There will be a master workshop aimed at improving the participants’ creativity where the best short film proposal will receive a cash prize.
This is the second annual Slum Film Festival. The initiative is supported by Hot Sun Foundation, Slum TV, AECID (Spanish Agency of International Cooperation) and the Nairobi Art Center.
