Social networks were abuzz rather early this morning, as a tremor ripped through the capital city and its environs early Tuesday morning at around 5.00am.

Most city residents were woken up by the slight techtonic movements that brought back memories of the more intense series of tremors that rocked Nairobi and Nakuru back in 2007.
According to Capital FM, the Meteorological Department attributed this to a 4.9 magnitude earthquake that occured deep in the Indian Ocean around 1.48am, and the tremors were just an after effect which should not cause any significant damage.
