Shujaaz FM Wins An Emmy!
Kenyan multi-media communications project “Well Told Story” scored a huge milestone at The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences by winning a Digital Emmy Award, the country’s first, at a ceremony in Cannes on Sunday night.
The Academy’s President & CEO Bruce L. Paisner joined more than 300 executives from the television, broadband and mobile industries for the ceremony organized in partnership with Reed Midem.
Educational project Shujaaz FM, a newspaper pullout designed to inspire and motivate millions of Kenyan youth to take action to improve their lives, won in the Children & Young People category.
In a statement, Paisner said,
“The awards are important because there’s just an explosion in digital programming taking place. We had 20 entries when we began seven years ago and today we had more than 100. It’s going to grow and grow and grow.”
