A transgender couple who met on Facebook and got married has made history as the first of their kind to successfully get their own biological child.

A transgender couple from Ecuador has given birth to a child; Fernando Machado was born a female and his partner, Diane Rodriguez used to be a man.

The couple met on Facebook and fell heads over heels in love. Neither of the two had gender reassignment surgery meaning they are be able to conceive a child naturally.

In a recent interview with BBC, Fernando and Diane expressed their desire to have more children in the near future.

Their only child is now four months old; the child was born through a cesarean section. The transgender couple is yet to announce the name of their newborn baby.
