Robbie Malinga bid Naima Kay farewell with a gift

A few weeks before his death, Robbie Malinga gave afro-jazz sensation Naima Kay a gift. This was a song that became the last he would ever record.

On December 26th, Naima was to debut the song at a live show. However, she decided against that when she heard about the passing of Malinga.

“When I heard about Robbie’s death, I was broken. He was a father to me and took me under his wing. I did nit cope well and cried a lot. We were supposed to perform together at the event and he was now gone. Even on stage, I was not coping and if I had performed our song together I wouldn’t have been able to finish.”

Malinga died on 25th December, 2017, surrounded by friends and family at his home in Johannesburg. Earlier that year, he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
