A Kenyan Film That Has Angered the Republic of Finland

A Kenyan film about the Finland’s first post-World War II president, Carl Gustaf Mannerheim has drawn criticism and controversy for the makers of the feature.

The Finnish are mad that Kenyans were given the rights and creative freedom to make a film about their national icon. The film was made by an entirely Kenyan cast and crew, including the writers and Mannerheim himself who is played by Telley Savalas Otieno.

The film was funded by Finland’s public TV network, YLE which has already aired on the network, where the controversy began. Check out the trailer for The Marshal of Finland below.
