American Teacher Resigns over Fears She May Have Contracted Ebola in Kenya
The more I read these stories on ‘Ebola in Kenya’, the more I realize that people really do not bother opening an atlas before opening their mouths.
A teacher at St. Margaret Mary Catholic School in Louisiana was a victim of ‘Ebola paranoia’ after a mission trip to the motherland. This was after the Teacher Susan Sherman, was asked to take a paid “precautionary leave” of 21 days after returning from Migori, Kenya. There were suspicions that she may have carried the Ebola Virus following her Kenyan visit with parents and peers expressing concern that Susan may have contracted the disease which is ravaging parts of West Africa.
She was even asked to provide a doctor’s note to prove that she was not unwell. Her Husband has sent a letter to Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, complaining that the people’s fears and suspicion were baseless and he and his wife had offered to teach people about Ebola, but their offer was rejected until their ‘quarantine’ was over.
The Sherman’s have however maintained that they will be coming back to Kenya next year to continue their mission work with Kenyan Relief.
