Attention Hip Hop Heads: This Is The Newest Hip Hop Artist Disturbing The Peace! even Capital FM Have Paid Homage!
I first heard about the unassuming lad when he walked into our offices. The lad isn’t big in stature and he is a bit of an introvert. Actually, seeing as I was behind schedule, I didn’t pay him much mind. He was talking to Jeff Omondi so i figured he’d be sorted.
Then long after he’d left, we decided to listen to his music. To be honest when I heard he was a rapper, I expected it to be yet another garbage mixtape dumped at Ghafla by lazy MCs but I am so happy to say that this lad is different!
This lad is actually unbelievably talented. He weaves stories and even history so skillfully and with such mastery that I had to trace him and share his story. I had to share this amazing revelation with Kenya. The lad of whom I speak so highly is none other than Mohamed Amin -the dusty foot philosopher from Garissa (yeah, i have to borrow from K’naan because of how similar the two are).
If your idea of hip hop is Lil Wayne then by all means, gerrof this article! This one is for all real hip hop heads, not confetti mongrels!
Mohamed Amin is the lad whose mixtape got everyone’s respect over at Ghafla. And that is because not only is he a skilled emcee, but all his songs are relateable and each and every song in his mixtape is something you will enjoy!
The lad actually has been making ripples all on his own and his single “More Than A Dream” was even played on Capital FM’s show “Hits Not Homework”.
And when I had a chat with him, he cited fellow underground emcees such as Jemedari, Xcalibur, Ojiji, and Stikfiga and even established acts such as Alfayo as his source for inspiration. This lad I tip to do great things. I just hope he finds the balance between mainstream and underground so he doesn’t lose himself.
Have a listen to his single below and leave a comment -seriously though, only constructive criticism because I will unleash the fury of the gods and the destruction of the winds upon anyone who comments utter garbage just to destroy an upcoming talent!
