Brian Mwenda to be remanded till January 17

The purported phony attorney, Brian Mwenda, is scheduled to stay under prison at the Nairobi Area Remand Prison in Industrial Area through January 17.
He makes this choice while awaiting a probation officer interview.

Mwenda was placed under remand by Makadara Law Courts Principal Magistrate Agnes Mwangi following his not guilty plea to charges of improperly representing the high court.

Ismail Jama, the prosecution’s attorney, told the court that more time will be needed for the inquiry since the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has not yet established the suspect’s residence. Alvin Kasaya, Mwenda’s attorney, refuted this assertion, claiming that his client lives in a flat on Mîrema Drive in Kasarani.

In response, Magistrate Mwangi said that the report from the probation officials, which is slated for January 17, will shed light on the matters brought up by the DCI and the prosecutor. The prolonged custody permits a comprehensive evaluation of the circumstances prior to the initiation of additional legal actions.
