Daddy Owen’s ‘Vanity’ Song And Video A Welcome Respite In What Was Becoming A Monotonous Gospel Scene

I know I am not the only one who finds the current situation of gospel music a tad monotonous with a boring effect. The diversity that made the gospel artistes rival and beat their secular colleagues seems to have deserted them save for one or three acts. Everyone is now so hang on being “cool” and doing the same thing.

It is from such frustrations that I chanced upon Daddy Owen’s ‘Vanity’ and like cool water to a parched throat it was. Everything about this songs is well considered and serves a purpose. It came out in May but the video just dropped out around 18th last month. To listen to the song is a wonderful experience but the video just adds to the perfection of it all serving a video’s purposes of delivering the song’s story without being simplistic.

Daddy Owen comes to his own is a slow flowing beat marked by remarkable arrangement from the strings and the trumpet which is quickly catching on me. The song captures you to the end with no highly distinct or sharp climax since even the hook is professional feeling very much part of the verses and not a break off them. The video shoot is also on point with the the scenery being quite accurate but the music does it for me. you can croon to it, groove to it or let it take you to sleep as you mediate. it is a good job done effortlessly. Here is the video,
