Here are a few intimate facts about Nazizi…
We’ve dug up an interesting interview from Nazizi which was done back in 2003 with the Daily Nation. In it, she revealed some really cool facts about herself. Here they are:
1. Nazizi is what may be considered by Kenyan youth to be a ‘barbie.’
She is from the upscale area of Nairobi, evidenced by the elite schools she attended, which include:
– Aga Khan Academy
– St Austins Academy
– International School of South Africa
– Makini School
– Augustana Academy
– University of KDU in Malaysia.
2. Wondering why she went to all those schools?
She explained that it was because of domestic problems. That’s where she discovered the good and bad times in life, and drew inspiration from those for her songs. She said,
“Like many hardcore rappers, I have seen both good and bad times. But I guess that is life.”
3. Her friends from the ‘other side of town’ helped her learn sheng.
“I had to be able to speak sheng’ so as to relate with my fellow young people,” she claimed in the interview.
Despite all these drawbacks, Nazizi still managed to cut a niche for herself among the rastafari crowd in the ghettos of Nairobi. Seems that the rasta message transcends all levels of social class.
