Ever Wondered what It Feels Like to Be in Outer Space?

Ever wondered what its like to be in outer space and experience all the wonders that the universe outside the scope of our planet has to offer? Well, there’s a video which was taken by the crew of America’s Expedition 30 on board the International Space Station, showing a sequence of shots from right above Eastern Kenya.

The concurrent shots were taken on March 3rd, 2012 from around 7.00pm to 8.00pm local time, on a pass from eastern Kenya, near the Indian Ocean, to the South Indian Ocean, east of the Kerguelen Islands.

This video begins as the International Space Station travels southeast from eastern Africa over the Arabian Sea and progresses towards the Indian Ocean.

If you look closely, you can spot the first signs of land as Mauritius and the Reunion Islands east of Madagascar continuing over the Indian Ocean, where there are heavy clouds blocking the view of the water. Finally, the Aurora Australis begins to appear, a series of bright multi coloured and effervescent rays of light as well as a faded view of the Milky Way.
