Exclusive: Betty Bayo Narrates Her Ordeal With Bishop Kanyari (video)

The first time I heard of Betty Bayo was in 2009, when she released her video 11hour, a song that spoke in depth of God’s timing, four years later, She has  steadily risen up the ranks as a sought after gospel artiste.

From her debut in 2009 we have had endless glimpses of her budding music career but never her family, which has remained hidden from the public.She married  Prophet Kanyari a controversial pastor who has been the talk of town for 3 days in a row after he was apprehended lying to and outwitting innocent Kenyans in the pretense that he would heal them of their maladies and exorcise the demons in their lives.

Yesterday I caught up with Betty Bayo at the milele Fm studios. She was clad in denim over a baseball -cap, and a pair of velvet  loubotins . Ashy 26 year old Betty Bayo  would disclose to me  that she had married Pastor Kanyari  3 years ago after they met at at a church service, she fell fell in love with him for the person he was, calm, funny, considerate and romantic.  At the time they met they were all stable, Kanyari was not a household name then .Betty would add to refute allegations that she had married Prophet Kanyari for his money.

Betty tells me that they have a daughter, Sky who is almost 3 years old.

“I was unable to watch the expose on Sunday, I was so taken aback, it was a nightmare, my phone was ringing incessantly, my friends telling me to be strong, others accusing me of being part of the ploy to con innocent Kenyans out of their hard earned money.” Betty  would say as we got ready for her interview.

Betty continued to say that she was not close to her mother in law,Nduta, who had made headlines in the past after she made a killing from lying to innocent Kenyans that she could perform miracles. This raised the question as to why she had married Prophet Kanyari amidst rumors that he was a fake, evil, conniving son of fake Prophetess.

“I loved him innocently, he was all I wanted, severally I had brought up the issue of what he was doing but he was always quick to dismiss me,the only person he ever listened to was his mother “ Betty would reveal. Apparently she was a member of the redeemed gospel church before she married  off, She did not join her husband’s church because she did not subscribe to  the doctrines that his church upheld, so they agreed that Betty would keep to her church while Kanyari kept to his, this worked perfectly for Bishop Kanyari , he was able to conduct his heinous acts away from the poring eyes of his wife.

There was however one question that she eluded, when I asked her if she was still The Prophet’s wife, She stammered and  told me that in the event that pastor Kanyari repented and changed his ways , she would always go back to him, He was her first love and  she would feel bad if she went to heaven alone.

Like you will hear from the video below, Pastor Kanyari has not come home since Sunday, Betty reveals that He is still unable to face her; He has however gone to her Mother and requested that he be allowed to talk to Betty whose phone was off.
