For The First Time in Nairobi! Presenting African Metropolis

African Metropolis is a series of short fiction films from six African cities, a unique partnership towards new African cinema. The films were developed over a period of one year with workshops held in Durban and Berlin.
African Metropolis aims to promote African directors and their urban tales from Cairo, Dakar, Lagos, Abidjan, Johannesburg and Nairobi. The series is a partnership between Goethe-Institut South Africa and Executive producer Steven Markovitz with support from GTBank and the Hubert Bals Fund.

 On Friday, 18th July 2014 the Goethe-Institut Nairobi will exhibit the short films during the day and screen an evening premiere of Homecoming, the Nairobian short film by Jim Chuchu in the evening. The director and actors will be present to intruduce their work and answer questions from the audience.

Saturday’s performance will be staged in six different rooms at The NEST, representing the six cities – in addition a discussion about the shorts and film in general will be hold.

African Metropolis at PAWA 254’s rooftop will take place on Sunday completing the whole event with supporting happening happenings like live graffiti, spoken word performances, music performances and a visual urban photography exhibition.
