{"id":1249,"date":"2017-10-02T10:15:45","date_gmt":"2017-10-02T10:15:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.com\/gh\/?p=1249"},"modified":"2017-10-02T10:15:45","modified_gmt":"2017-10-02T10:15:45","slug":"akosua-agyapong-spearheadeds-bcis-cancer-awareness-flash-mob","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/akosua-agyapong-spearheadeds-bcis-cancer-awareness-flash-mob\/","title":{"rendered":"Akosua Agyapong Spearheadeds BCI&#8217;s Cancer Awareness Flash Mob"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ace musician and television personality Akosua Agyapong led a breast cancer awareness flash mob over the weekend at the Kotoka International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>The event, under the auspices of Breast Care International (BCI), was meant to announce its annual cancer awareness &#8216;walk for the cure&#8217; programme scheduled for October 14 in Koforidua, Eastern region.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/wp-image-787407018.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1245\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/wp-image-787407018-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/wp-image-787407018-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/wp-image-787407018.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The stunning hiplife musician and mother of six who is Global Ambassador for breast cancer was the toast of passengers, survivors at the event.<\/p>\n<p>The budding musician, even in her late 50&#8217;s as usual thrilled the audience with melodious songs accompanied by well calculated &#8216;azonto&#8217; steps.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/wp-image-1456798053.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1246\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/wp-image-1456798053-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/wp-image-1456798053-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/10\/wp-image-1456798053.jpg 533w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Akosua Agyapong however bemoaned that myths and misconceptions associated with the disease are still in existence despite all the extensive public campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Mrs. Beatrice Wife Addai, President of the Breast Care International also expressed deep worries about Ghanaian women&#8217;s dependence and reliance on the traditional methods by way of using herbs for the treatment of breast and cervical cancers.<\/p>\n<p>This act she however noted has not been helpful to the fight at reducing the cancer fatalities in the country as victims only turn to them when it&#8217;s too late.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have been fighting these diseases over the years, but it seems we are losing the fight because victims continue to report the disease late for treatment.<\/p>\n<p>The leading breast cancer surgeon, Dr. Wiafe again revealed that as part of activities to mark breast cancer month, BCI in collaboration with Delta Arline&#8217;s will paint the airport pink to create more awareness.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Executive Officer of the Peace and Love Hospital further stated that, the expectation was that cancer in women would be detected and presented early for medical treatment and not later when the disease has already outgrown and cannot be treated.<\/p>\n<p>This is therefore an approach to improve the overall health status of Ghanaian women, the celebrated breast surgeon added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ace musician and television personality Akosua Agyapong led a breast cancer awareness flash mob over the weekend at the Kotoka International Airport.
