Former President John Mahama appointed her as a minister in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly, she is of the opinion that the growth of the two opposing groups, \u201cPepper Dem Ministry\u201d and \u201cSugar Dem Gang\u201d is gratifying.<\/p>\n<p>She made these statements in an exclusive interview on TV Africa\u2019s Breakfast Live.<\/p>\n<p>Fuerthermore, Mrs. Lithur tagged the groups the new frontiers of gender empowerment.<\/p>\n<h4>Nana Oye Lithur on Gender empowerment groups in the country<\/h4>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cGhanaian women still have a lot to do in terms of gender empowerment. That\u2019s why I am so excited about \u2018Pepper Dem Ministry\u2019 and \u2018Sugar Dem Gang\u2019 because it\u2019s a whole new frontier in terms of gender empowerment. I know some observers are concerned about the fact that they have two opposing views but that\u2019s what diversity is all about.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A year or two ago I was concerned about the intergenerational gap and was concerned as to whether the younger women really have the vim as well as having the same views about the need for gender empowerment. So seeing \u2018Pepper Dem\u2019 come up is so gratifying, I am so excited and with the counter, \u2018Sugar Dem\u2019 is very healthy.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Currently, \u2018Pepper Dem Ministry\u2019 is Ghana\u2019s most popular feminist group.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the group made strong waves in the digital space with unconventional ideologies and stance. This is in relation to women, sex, intimate relationships, and marriage.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Sugar Dem gang is spearheaded by Adom Fm Presenter, Afia Pokuaa.
