{"id":20945,"date":"2018-03-09T10:03:32","date_gmt":"2018-03-09T10:03:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.com\/gh\/?p=20945"},"modified":"2018-03-09T10:05:59","modified_gmt":"2018-03-09T10:05:59","slug":"manifest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/manifest\/","title":{"rendered":"Women Are Better Songwriters &#8211; M.anifest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Award-winning Ghanaian Rapper, M.anifest says women are better songwriters.<\/p>\n<p>The God MC rapper made this revelation when he visited the\u00a0<em>BBC<\/em>\u00a0to promote two UK headline performances this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>He joined broadcaster Veronique Edwards in an engaging Facebook Live chat that dished on numerous topics \u2013 his music influences, his fashion sense and latest projects on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, women songwriters give an interesting perspective to music and they are refreshing to listen to.<\/p>\n<p>Asked why he thinks women in the music industry are few, the &#8216;Nowhere Cool&#8217; crooner attributed it to the power dynamics.<\/p>\n<p>M.anifest believes it is down to power dynamics where some men feel threatened by the talents of women, they prefer to let them be in the background.<\/p>\n<h3>M.anifest speaks;<\/h3>\n<p><em>\u201cI want to see more women producers\u2026I think that will change the sound and make it more interesting,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n<p>The reigning best VGMA rapper said pitching two female singers against one another is unhealthy. This he explained is because there are lots of space at the summit for everyone. M.anifest believes that the opposite way is rather helpful because it&#8217;s more exciting.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt makes it more exciting because you just can\u2019t have this testosterone-heavy scene which makes it one way. I am anti one way.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cOn every show I do, I try to balance the energy with women\u2026I love working and performing with women artiste that is why I worked with them on every album.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>M.anifest, born Kwame Ametepee Tsikata is an internationally acclaimed award-winning Ghanaian musician. He was crowned the King of Ghana Hip-Hop in 2017 when he won Best Rapper and Hip-Hop song of the year at the Ghana Music Awards.
