Renowned actress and screen goddess, Nana Ama McBrown has declared that the local movie industry, best known as Kumawood is dead.<\/p>\n

Many industry players have been crying over the inactiveness of the industry for sometime now.<\/p>\n

According to Nana Ama, the number of movie scripts she normally receives in a month had declined significantly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose days, I could I could have as many as four different scripts in a month, but it\u2019s not like that anymore\u2026,\u201d<\/em> she revealed.<\/p>\n

Nana Ama was speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM on Monday.<\/h3>\n

Asked if she believes that Kumawood\u00a0has died completely, the actress said, “yes it has collapsed.\u00a0The speed\u00a0of\u00a0the work has reduced drastically.” <\/em>She bemoaned.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

The \u2018SideChic Gang\u2019 actress further attributed the seemingly collapsed industry to the decision by the government to reconstruct the Kejetia Market complex in Kumasi.<\/p>\n

According to her, the mass eviction that took place at Kejetia affected the market as the CD sellers that used to patronize their movies have no place to sell their wares.<\/p>\n

She however urged various producers to step up their game to match international movie standards.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow everything is on social media. There is Netflix and all that. Maybe we need to upgrade. This is not the time to give up. Are they ready to shoot that kind of movie that will go far?<\/em><\/p>\n

“If we do a good movie, we can get the money back. It has gone down but we shouldn\u2019t blame anyone\u2026,\u201d<\/em> the actress said.<\/p>\n

Nana Ama McBrown, born Felicity Ama Agyemang is known for her versatility and impeccable roles in such movies. She is one of the long serving actresses in Ghana and in the Kumawood movie industry. She’s referred to as the Queen of Kumawood by a section of the public.<\/p>\n
