One award that has sparked uproar on social media at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards\u00a0 (VGMAs) 2018 is the most popular song of the year.<\/p>\n
Many expected Patapaa Amisty to win the award with his ‘One Corner’ song based on how long the song trended for. As well as how it went viral across the country and beyond.<\/p>\n
However, they were disappointed when the award landed in the hands of Tamale based artiste, Fancy Gadam with his ‘Total Cheat’ song.<\/p>\n
In the course of the event, Patapaa Amisty was reported to have stormed out of the events grounds when he lost to Fancy Gadam.<\/p>\n
Peeved, he went om to accuse Chatter House, organizers of the awards of taking money to rob him of his award.<\/p>\n
According to him, he completely deserved to win the Most Popular song category, insisting his \u2018one corner\u2019 single was more popular than any other song in the year under review.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey [VGMA board] have to stop those things they\u2019ve been doing. If someone deserves an award, you have to give it to him based on his output. They don\u2019t have to take any stupid money to give an award to an undeserving artiste,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0the singer said.<\/p>\n
“If you look from the inside, most of the people were even shouting that the award should come to me, Patapaa,” he added.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cMost of the fans were not happy that they have the award to Fancy Gadam, but all the same they tomorrow they will hear from me on air.\u201d He said
\n<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\nThe 2018 VGMA came off last Saturday at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).<\/p>\n
The late dancehall star, Ebony Reigns posthumously scooped the flagship Artiste of the Year award. She becomes the first female and perhaps the youngest artiste to win the awards since its inception.<\/p>\n
