Ghanaian highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena says musicians are not producing albums but ‘singles’.<\/p>\n
According to him, the current crop of artistes depends solely on \u2018singles\u2019 rather than albums hence their short concentration span in the industry.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Adult Music\u2019 crooner added that artistes in the country are not producing and promoting \u2018genuine\u2019 Ghanaian music.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are not growing authentic Ghanaian music. That is the hard truth. If we will be truthful, we can\u2019t depend on the one time singles and all that. The musicians now don\u2019t do albums, reason more artistes are packed on bills. It\u2019s good for the event organizer. If they were all doing albums they will have more time to perform and that will be an advantage to the artiste\u2026\u201d he said on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM with Andy Dosty.<\/p>\n
He mentioned songs such as Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ and Captain Planet’s latest single \u2018Obi Agye Obi Girl\u2019 as examples.<\/p>\n
Kwabena Kwabena outlined the need for the musicians to produce works that will keep the industry on its toes and put the Ghanaian music on the map.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Adult Music\u2019 crooner advised music producers to produce albums that will create a solid connection with their fans for longer performances during shows.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlbums give you the privilege to perform more songs to your fans. Where is \u2018One Corner\u2019? Now it\u2019s \u2018Obi Agye Obi girl\u2019. We need to put songs that will make us last as artistes to keep the industry going. We need to work harder\u2026\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Born George Adu, he is currently promoting his new album, \u2018Ahyesi\u2019. The album also happens to be his fourth.<\/p>\n
