{"id":42806,"date":"2018-06-26T08:25:59","date_gmt":"2018-06-26T08:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.com\/gh\/?p=42806"},"modified":"2018-06-26T04:22:02","modified_gmt":"2018-06-26T04:22:02","slug":"profanity-in-ghana-music-worrying-akosua-agyapong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/profanity-in-ghana-music-worrying-akosua-agyapong\/","title":{"rendered":"Profanity In Ghana Music Worrying \u2013 Akosua Agyapong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran highlife musician, Akosua Agyapong, has expressed great worries about the rate of profanity in Ghana music.<\/p>\n<p>According to the &#8216;Frema&#8217; hitmaker, profanity is now in the various music genres in Ghana, including Gospel music.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe have bad music in the country, very bad music, the bad music is in both gospel and other genres, some [artistes] are not doing well, when you\u2019re doing music and you\u2019re singing profane songs, then you want the younger children growing up to learn and continue and that is what hurts me.\u201d<\/em> She told DJ Premier on Entertainment Capital on Accra100.5FM.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>She, however, said she was happy more young artistes are opting for highlife but cautioned them about their lyrics.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI have realized\u00a0that the young ones were doing too much foreign music, but this time, they\u2019re playing the highlife. Some are doing good music that when you listen, you\u2019ll know this is sensible music, but some of them, I don\u2019t know. When they get to the studio, maybe the engineer has already done the rhythm. Then he\u2019ll tell the artiste to sing\u2026<\/em>so, the artiste sings anything just like that\u2026,\u201d she told Bismark Boachie (DJ Premier).<\/p>\n<h3><em>\u00a0\u201cMy music Kokooko is 27 years, so ask yourself, if all these music people are still playing that song, when you go to the night clubs they play Kokooko, this is a song which still lives after 27 years, it\u2019s not dead,<\/em> she noted.<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Akosua further added that there are many musicians who are still alive. However, their music is dead because they lack quality.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cMost of the musicians in Ghana do music while they are alive but their music is dead. Timeless music is what I\u2019m talking about, to sing meaningful songs, songs that children can listen to\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThere are alot of things which are not going on well in the society, which is worrying. I sing most of my songs at churches because it\u2019s for advice,\u201d <\/em>she stated<em>.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>She pleaded with artistes to work on their lyrics to ensure that they&#8217;ll not be ashamed when the next generation hears them.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>I\u2019ll plead with my brothers and sisters who are in the music industry that they have beautiful rhythms but the lyrics are problematic.
