President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said that, homosexuality may become a topical issue in Ghana in the near future but so far not on the agenda.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it is something that is bound to happen like elsewhere in the world.\u201d But he says \u201cit is not so far a matter which is on the agenda\u201d.<\/p>\n
President Akufo-Addo made these remarks on Sunday on Al Jazeera\u2019s Talk To Al Jazeera hosted by Jane Dutton.<\/p>\n
Ghana\u2019s laws frown on same-sex marriage and it is punishable.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe that those are the same processes.\u201d<\/p>\n
He recounted how the United Kingdom did not consider homosexuality an issue in his school days while living there.<\/p>\n
But later the activism grew stronger and \u201cit forced a change in law,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the moment, I don\u2019t feel that in Ghana there is that strong cult of opinion that will say this is something that we need to deal with.\u201d President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo added.<\/p>\n
