Veteran Ghanaian Highlife musician, Kojo Antwi has charged modern musicians to focus on polishing their inability\u00a0to stage live performances.<\/p>\n
Kojo Antwi, also known as the\u00a0 Music Maestro is well known for his entertaining live performances.<\/p>\n
He further noted that unlike him, the current crop of musicians focus on studio recordings rather than learning the art of stagecraft.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe difference now is that you have musicians who come out of the studio before they become musicians. And you hear a lot of people complaining of their inability to play live shows\u201d.\u00a0<\/em>He told Becky on \u2018E With Becks\u2019 on Joy Prime.<\/p>\n
\u201cI started on stage before entering the studio. They enter studio before coming on stage, so they have to be groomed for the stage,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The \u2018Adiepena\u2019 hitmaker believes\u00a0artiste managers must make a conscious effort to groom their new artistes. Thus, with the skill of live stage performances.<\/p>\n
That notwithstanding, Mr Music Man, recommends that until an artiste has a repertoire of songs which\u00a0can sustain a live audience, he\/she must not\u00a0mount\u00a0the stage.<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2026even when you have just a single out, it is not the time for you to go out there and play, that\u2019s my advice. You need a repertoire of about 30 minutes that you can sustain an audience with\u2019, he stated.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Meanwhile, Kojo Antwi was the first Ghanaian ever to be nominated for Best International Act at the BET awards. That was when the category was first introduced in 2010 also recounted his experience.<\/p>\n
