Awards-winning rapper, M.anifest has pinpointed three reasons why he thinks Ghana music industry is trash.<\/p>\n
According to the ‘Azumah Nelson Flow’ rapper, he usually sits back and tries to diagnose the problems of the music industry.<\/p>\n
He added that upon his assessment however, he found out that the industry is trash.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe music industry is crap, it is trash it is absolutely treacherous,<\/em><\/p>\n
it is not consistent, it is not able to support itself\u201d.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
H<\/em>e told Jessica Opare-Saforo on Citi FM\u2019s Traffic Avenue.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
He also noted that Ghanaian musicians are written off quickly and almost every year some artistes fizzle out of the system.<\/p>\n
M.anifest the preceede to list three reasons to back up his observations which;<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a clear infrastructure problem that makes revenue streams quite narrow so people are not making money from making music. There is lack of royalties from music <\/em><\/p>\n
and lastly the industry players are undervalued partly due to the fault of musicians,\u201d<\/em> he explained.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
That notwithstanding, he said he was fortunate to have begun his career in the states<\/p>\n
where he registered with music right organisations that take care of profits he makes from his work.<\/p>\n
A few months ago, he told the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in an interview that he had not received a penny from<\/p>\n
the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) as royalties since he started music.<\/p>\n
He said even though he has not registered with the South African Music Right Organisation (SAMRO)<\/p>\n
and UK\u2019s Performing Rights Society (PRS), he gets royalties from them.<\/p>\n
