{"id":54995,"date":"2018-10-19T08:30:21","date_gmt":"2018-10-19T08:30:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.com\/gh\/?p=54995"},"modified":"2018-10-19T01:53:33","modified_gmt":"2018-10-19T01:53:33","slug":"wutahs-afriyie-releases-another-solo-project-why","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/wutahs-afriyie-releases-another-solo-project-why\/","title":{"rendered":"Wutah&#8217;s Afriyie Releases Another Solo Project\u00a0\u2018Why\u2019\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A year after their reunion, Afriyie, one half of the Wutah music duo, is releasing his solo single.<\/p>\n<p>The song titled \u2018Why\u2019 will be released Today Friday, October 19, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The mid-tempo track produced by DDT, tells the story of a man in love, who, after<\/p>\n<p>showering his woman with whatever she needs, does not seem content.<\/p>\n<p>This will however be Afriyie\u2019s first single after he reunited with his partner Kobby.<\/p>\n<p>The two make up Wutah.<\/p>\n<p>Afriyie\u2019s voice has, between 2006 and 2016, earned him nominations in the best<\/p>\n<p>male vocal category in the Ghana Music Awards.<\/p>\n<p>He won in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Why\u2019 is on the Wutah Family International (WFI) label.<\/p>\n<p>Afriyie is currently in the United Kingdom (UK) promoting the track.<\/p>\n<p>Few weeks ago, he bagged two awards: Highlife Group of the year; and Highlife Song<\/p>\n<p>of the year, in the 2018 Ghana Music Awards UK.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Celebrity Radar on Citi FM on Wednesday,<\/p>\n<p>Afriyie (born Frank Osei), nonetheless shot down rumours that the group is on the verge of collapse.<\/p>\n<p>Read:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/okyeame-kwame-celebrates-wifes-birthday\/\">https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/okyeame-kwame-celebrates-wifes-birthday\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He said releasing solo projects does not mean he is parting ways with his other member, Kobby.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cLike other seriously talented musicians, locally or internationally, you can talk of Morgan Heritage from Jamaica or own R2Bees from Ghana, my endeavor to release a single is very similar to the examples listed and must not be taken as a move to break away from the group,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cYou know fans and lovers of good music fuel my passion to compose and sing more so that\u2019s exactly what he\u2019s doing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Wutah family is solidly backing me and the fans have full confidence in the fact that Wutah is here to stay. Good music should win. I think that\u2019s what matters,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ghanaian music duo reunited as a group last year by releasing a couple of songs, after<\/p>\n<p>eight (8) years of doing their solo projects.<\/p>\n<h3>Background<\/h3>\n<p>Their \u2018Bronya\u2019 song which became a smash hit in 2017, won them Best Group of the<\/p>\n<p>Year award at the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Wutah came into the limelight in 2004 when it contested for the Nescafe Africa Revelation<\/p>\n<p>music competition in Accra and came second to Praye. The name Wutah is a Hausa<\/p>\n<p>word which means fire.<\/p>\n<p>Their debut album, \u2018Anamontuo\u2019 which has songs like \u2018Adonko\u2019, \u2018Goosie Gander\u2019 and \u2018Big Dreams\u2019 earned them eleven nominations including The Most Popular Song of the Year, Album Of the Year and Artiste of the Year in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, they separated and started recording their solo projects. Afriyie has released songs<\/p>\n<p>like \u2018I Do,\u2019 \u2018Love of My Life,\u2019 \u2018Tontonti,\u2019 \u2018Everlasting Love\u2019 and \u2018Here to Stay.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Kobby, after their split, also released \u2018Chiochio,\u2019 \u2018Pii Por Pii,\u2019 \u2018Warning,\u2019 and \u2018Father for All.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A year after their reunion, Afriyie, one half of the Wutah music duo, is releasing his solo single.
