Multiple award-winning rapper Edem has launched this year’s ‘Edemfest ‘<\/p>\n

The 2018 edition of the music festival was launched on Monday, October 15,<\/p>\n

at Urbano Hotel in Osu, Accra.<\/p>\n

Addressing the press, the \u201cFokoloyor\u201d hitmaker said:<\/p>\n

\u201cas you would expect of creatives form these parts, my career began modestly \u2014 pounding on school desks and sleeping on studio floors. And so, I consider it a great blessing to reach the heights that I have, and to possess an influential voice.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He said whenever he reflects on his musical journey, his heart \u2018brims with joy\u2019 but it<\/p>\n

also reminds him of the responsibilities he assumes.<\/p>\n

\u201cUndoubtedly, music is a powerful tool, and my music has constantly served as a great platform to share my story, and inspire fellow youth who nurse hopes of a better life. My name loosely translates as \u2018redemption\u2019 \u2014and it is what I seek to demonstrate with my life.<\/em><\/p>\n

Especially in an era where it is easy to lose our identity whiles navigating the globalisation question, <\/em><\/p>\n

Edemfest was conceived as part of brand Edem\u2019s Corporate Social Responsibility, as an avenue to remind ourselves of an illustrious heritage as a people, and a wakeup call for us to preserve the very culture that makes us unique,\u201d<\/em> he stated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The maiden edition of Edemfest was however launched in 2017 and\u00a0was held on the<\/p>\n

Keta High Street, with the core aim of raising awareness on illegal fishing.<\/p>\n

It’s day-long event highlighted by a grand musical concert.<\/h3>\n

Edemfest consists of various activities catering to art, culture, tourism and business.<\/p>\n

This year, the event, which serves as a prelude to the Hogbetsotso Festival, will be held<\/p>\n

with the objective of tackling sand-winning, and open defecation.<\/p>\n

Edemfest 2018 comes off Friday, November 2, at the Aborigine Beach Resort,<\/p>\n

Keta \u2014 a serene beach with pure sands, the venue is a gorgeous testament of<\/p>\n

what happens when we take the duty of preserving our environment seriously.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s event is expected to pull over 20,000 patrons \u2014 double of the number<\/p>\n

we recorded last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are confident that Edemfest 2018, aside reconnecting us to our heritage and<\/em><\/p>\n

reviving our confidence in our potential, will go a long way towards contributing<\/em><\/p>\n

to the economic development of the area, as well as fostering budding talent from there. Watch out for a special performance by Agbadza group, Charles Nipson Foundation Group (NFG),\u201d<\/em> Edem divulged.<\/p>\n
