Songstress Wiyaala has revealed how happy she is being a role model to girls\u00a0especially<\/p>\n

those from her village in the Upper West Region.<\/p>\n

Wiyaala who sings in her native Waala and Sissala dialects as well as English relishes<\/p>\n

being seen as a role model by young girls from her village who look up to her for inspiration.<\/p>\n

In an interview with UK\u2019s Skynews last week where she touched on a number of issues including<\/p>\n

how she is using music to shape lives, the ‘Rock My Body’ singer said she is very happy young<\/p>\n

girls from her village see her as a role model and are inspired by her works.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m happy to be a role model because when I started, I didn\u2019t say I want to be a role model, it just happened.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Besides, being one out of the thousand children from my village and becoming very popular has inspired others.<\/em><\/h3>\n

\u201cThey see you on TV in another country or continent and get excited and ask \u2018how did you do it?\u2019 I\u2019m happy they see what I\u2019m doing and are inspired by it,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As a baptised Catholic, Wiyaala disclosed that she nurtured her singing abilities as a<\/p>\n

member of the church\u2019s choir in her village where she grew up.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, as kids, we used to drum and also perform for people and that experience also helped me a lot with my stagecraft\u201d<\/em> she added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There is no doubt that the Afro-pop musician, Wiyaala is one of the talented female artistes<\/p>\n

in the industry but to the Sisaala singer, she\u2019s not appreciated by the system in Ghana.<\/p>\n

She has ever said the lack of appreciation for her style of music in the country pushed her<\/p>\n

out to ply her on the international scene.<\/p>\n

In an interview she granted early this year, Wiyaala said the unfair treatment of the ‘system’ has<\/p>\n

pushed her to take her music trade outside the country where people value her talent and style.<\/p>\n

\u201cI won Female Vocalist of the Year 2015 at the Ghana Music Awards but is that all I deserve? I think I\u2019m worth more than that,\u201d<\/em> Wiyaala nicknamed \u2018The Lioness of Africa\u2019 said at the time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
