Rapper and and Afro-beat artiste Elom Adablah, best known as EL has stated that<\/p>\n

Ghanaians are not smart enough to understand Hip-hop music.<\/p>\n

has stated that Hip-hop does not have a future in Ghana<\/p>\n

This, according to him is because Ghanaians are not smart enough to understand Hip-hop music.<\/p>\n

He went on to emphasize that this generation of Ghanaian artistes have no business pursuing<\/p>\n

hip-hop music because the genre has no future in our part of the world, adding;<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think hip-hop is our identity as Africans, it\u2019s not.\u201d<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The \u2018Koko\u2019 hitmaker, made the shocking statement during an interview with host<\/p>\n

of Drive with the Area Gang show, Elvis Crystal on Pluzz 89.9 on Friday, December 21, 2018<\/p>\n

to promote his latest single.<\/p>\n

Speaking about his introduction into Ghanaian music as a rapper, EL disclosed that<\/p>\n

hip-hop has not been very good to him as far as his music career is concerned.<\/p>\n

He therefore described those days with Skillions hip-hop group as;<\/p>\n

\u201cA group of kids playing around with mics following the likes of Jay Z but in <\/em><\/p>\n

hindsight, it was a waste of time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The rapper further disclosed that he is done with hip-hop music explaining that he is more<\/p>\n

mature and self-aware now to understand the importance of self-identity which is why<\/p>\n

creating Afro-beat music is what makes him truly happy now.<\/p>\n

He also bemoaned how most artistes are doing the same thing lately and proceeded to take a<\/p>\n

swipe at many of today\u2019s rappers who he describes as unoriginal, making it easy for just<\/p>\n

about anybody without talent to become a hip-hop artiste.<\/p>\n

He cited Worlasi as one of the very few artistes creating original music lately.<\/p>\n

The ‘Kaalu’ hit maker added that he isn\u2019t surprised that viral acts like Patapaa and Supa made<\/p>\n

it big and are regarded as artistes although many have questioned talent.<\/p>\n

El believes we will see more of such acts because that is what Ghanaians are into.<\/p>\n

He however advised that we enlighten ourselves and put more effort into making quality<\/p>\n

music as being done by our Nigerians neighbors.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to enlighten ourselves more. Nigerians are doing it. Name me one Nigerian artiste who makes music as mediocre as what we have now and actually is recognized, it\u2019s not,\u201d he queried.<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Meanwhile, EL founded his own record label, V.O Nation earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Although the label is yet to be officially launched, the singer and producer assured all<\/p>\n

music lovers to look out for amazing stuff from the V.O Nation next year.<\/p>\n

Talking about his upcoming projects for 2019, EL also reminded Ghanaians to look out out<\/p>\n

for the release of his next album, Waves, and his performance at the South by South<\/p>\n

Western (SXSW) Festival in Texas, USA as the sole representative of Ghana.<\/p>\n
