{"id":58163,"date":"2018-12-24T08:20:07","date_gmt":"2018-12-24T08:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.com\/gh\/?p=58163"},"modified":"2018-12-24T06:52:18","modified_gmt":"2018-12-24T06:52:18","slug":"3455","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/3455\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghanaians Are Not Smart Enough To Understand Hip-Hop Music &#8211; EL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rapper and and Afro-beat artiste Elom Adablah, best known as EL has stated that<\/p>\n<p>Ghanaians are not smart enough to understand Hip-hop music.<\/p>\n<p>has stated that Hip-hop does not have a future in Ghana<\/p>\n<p>This, according to him is because Ghanaians are not smart enough to understand Hip-hop music.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to emphasize that this generation of Ghanaian artistes have no business pursuing<\/p>\n<p>hip-hop music because the genre has no future in our part of the world, adding;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3><em> \u201cI don\u2019t think hip-hop is our identity as Africans, it\u2019s not.\u201d<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The \u2018Koko\u2019 hitmaker, made the shocking statement during an interview with host<\/p>\n<p>of Drive with the Area Gang show, Elvis Crystal on Pluzz 89.9 on Friday, December 21, 2018<\/p>\n<p>to promote his latest single.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about his introduction into Ghanaian music as a rapper, EL disclosed that<\/p>\n<p>hip-hop has not been very good to him as far as his music career is concerned.<\/p>\n<p>He therefore described those days with Skillions hip-hop group as;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cA group of kids playing around with mics following the likes of Jay Z but in <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>hindsight, it was a waste of time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The rapper further disclosed that he is done with hip-hop music explaining that he is more<\/p>\n<p>mature and self-aware now to understand the importance of self-identity which is why<\/p>\n<p>creating Afro-beat music is what makes him truly happy now.<\/p>\n<p>Also Read:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/ghanaian-musicians-need-to-support-each-other-nana-yaa\/\">https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/ghanaian-musicians-need-to-support-each-other-nana-yaa\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He also bemoaned how most artistes are doing the same thing lately and proceeded to take a<\/p>\n<p>swipe at many of today\u2019s rappers who he describes as unoriginal, making it easy for just<\/p>\n<p>about anybody without talent to become a hip-hop artiste.<\/p>\n<p>He cited Worlasi as one of the very few artistes creating original music lately.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Kaalu&#8217; hit maker added that he isn\u2019t surprised that viral acts like Patapaa and Supa made<\/p>\n<p>it big and are regarded as artistes although many have questioned talent.<\/p>\n<p>El believes we will see more of such acts because that is what Ghanaians are into.<\/p>\n<p>He however advised that we enlighten ourselves and put more effort into making quality<\/p>\n<p>music as being done by our Nigerians neighbors.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3><em>\u201cWe need to enlighten ourselves more. Nigerians are doing it.
