{"id":59009,"date":"2019-01-17T08:55:51","date_gmt":"2019-01-17T08:55:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.com\/gh\/?p=59009"},"modified":"2019-01-16T19:43:14","modified_gmt":"2019-01-16T19:43:14","slug":"creative-arts-should-be-separated-from-tourism-arts-and-culture-ministry-barima-sidney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/creative-arts-should-be-separated-from-tourism-arts-and-culture-ministry-barima-sidney\/","title":{"rendered":"Creative Arts Should Be Separated From\u00a0Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry &#8211; Barima Sidney"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghanaian Hiplife artiste,\u00a0Barima Sidney has bemoaned the neglect of the creative arts industry.<\/p>\n<p>Sidney is therefore calling on President Akufo-Addo to decouple Creative Arts from<\/p>\n<p>the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry was created by the Mahama administration in 2013 to foresee and<\/p>\n<p>regulate organisations and activities under tourism and creative arts in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Few years after the creation of the Ministry however, many stakeholders have accused it<\/p>\n<p>of being biased towards the Creative Arts sector stressing that all attention is on only tourism.<\/p>\n<p>Current Minister of the sector, Catherine Afeku, has had her own share of the criticism.<\/p>\n<p>READ:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/im-not-a-womanizer-barima-sidney\/\">https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/gh\/im-not-a-womanizer-barima-sidney\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rating the leadership of Catherine Afeku in a conversation with JoyNews\u2019 MzGee, Barima<\/p>\n<p>Sidney said there was a need to alienate Tourism from the Arts to yield the desired results.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<em>I think she is doing well but the only thing I will say is, it is not her fault but I think <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>combining tourism and creative arts is something the president needs to look at <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>because tourism is taking everything from the creative arts. Tourism is big and <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>they are pumping a lot of money in tourism and neglecting creative arts,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSo we will plead with the president to separate the two. Put the Tourism somewhere and let\u2019s have the creative arts too,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sidney, recently released a new single \u201cOne Day\u201d which highlights the woes of his 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Optimistic, this year will be better; Barima Sidney disclosed he will feature many of<\/p>\n<p>his comrades on songs this year.<\/p>\n<p>Also on March 6, the \u201cObia Nye Obia\u201d hitmaker will release \u201cState of Affairs,\u201d which is<\/p>\n<p>his assessment of the Akufo-Addo government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ghanaian Hiplife artiste,\u00a0Barima Sidney has bemoaned the neglect of the creative arts industry.
