Planned Nationwide Power Maintenance Scheduled for July 29, 2025

NAIROBI, KENYA – Kenya Power has announced an extensive planned power outage affecting multiple counties across the country on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The temporary shutdown is part of routine maintenance aimed at improving power reliability and infrastructure efficiency.

Affected Areas by County


Nairobi County

  • Kibera: Hazina Co-op Credit Sacco, Sudan Embassy, Kabarnet Gardens, part of Kabarnet Road and Kibera Drive, 9 Planets Estate, Huduma Center, DC’s Office Kibera, Makina B, Makongeni, part of Kisumu Ndogo, Kibera Law Courts, Jamia Mosque, Kichinjio, Lindi, Laini Saba, Mashimoni Primary, Kambi Muru, Sunday Studio, and adjacent areas.

  • Dagoretti & Kikuyu Road Vicinity: Dagoretti Market, Dagoretti Children’s Home, Dagoretti Centre Shell, Gachui, Kirigu Primary School, Pathenios, parts of Waithaka Shopping Centre, Quick Mart, Gitiba Makaburini, part of Kikuyu Road, Ruthimitu Mixed and Girls Secondary Schools, Wakorino Stage, and nearby customers.

Kericho County

  • Laliat Quarry, Toror & Taiwet Tea Factories: Ainamoi Sub-District Hospital, Chepisom Market, Ketitui Market, Ainamoi Market, Ogirgir, and nearby customers.


Nandi County

  • Kapsabet Town & Namgoi: Includes Kapsasur and surrounding areas.

  • Ndurio & Kobujoi: Both localities and their adjacent customers will be affected.


Kakamega County

  • Mumias Town: Includes Mumias Mission Hospital, St. Peter’s, St. Mary’s, Mumias Water, Bulanda Village, Bumia Village, and nearby areas.


Migori County

  • Okenge, Macalder, Osiri: The entire Okenge area, parts of Osiri Market, Macalder Polytechnic, Okenge High School, and surrounding customers.


Mombasa County

  • Tudor & Technical University of Mombasa (TUM): Rasini Road, Tom Mboya Road, Zulpha Apartments, Tudor Nora, Zambezi Avenue, and adjacent areas.


Kilifi County

  • Mwango & Chumani: Includes parts of Mwango, Mtondia, Tezo, Chumani, and surrounding customers.


Nyeri County

  • Mukurweini & Ichamara: Ichamara Market, Kimondo, Kihuti, Kiangondu, Thangathi, Kiuu, Ujamaa, Mbugua Markets, and nearby customers.


Embu County

  • Gitaru, Kindaruma & Kiambere Areas: Gitaru Senior Camp, Kindaruma Lower Camp, Kenyatta Camp, Kiambere Kengen Camps, Water Meyer, Kiambere Complex, Katothya, Kavui, Ngiiri, Gwakarigu, Mutuobare Market, Safaricom, Karura, Rutumbi, Gatete, Cieria, and surrounding areas.
