Prophet Victor Kanyari has stirred online conversation after sharing a poignant throwback photograph of himself and his late ex-wife, gospel singer Betty Bayo, as a public tribute to her life and their shared history.

Kanyari’s post comes amid heightened emotions surrounding Betty Bayo’s passing and his highly visible role in her funeral plans. The preacher is using the photo to honor her memory and reflect on the moments they shared before their separation.

Addressing Public Scrutiny

The post elicited mixed reactions, with some critics suggesting that Kanyari’s public displays of grief and involvement in the funeral arrangements might overshadow Betty Bayo’s widower, Hiram Gitau (Tash).

However, Kanyari has consistently defended his actions, maintaining that his intentions are rooted purely in grief and respect, not competition.

Speaking in a Facebook Live session on Wednesday, November 13, 2025, Kanyari directly addressed the criticism:

“So when people say that Kanyari is crying and mourning more than Tash, everyone has their own way of expressing grief. I am a very emotional person, and when I cry, it comes naturally; no one can control that.”

He clarified that his mourning is simply a reflection of his personal feelings, emphasizing that Betty Bayo played a major role in his life, and she was, notably, the person who introduced him to Tash. Kanyari has repeatedly expressed deep respect for Tash for stepping in to care for their two children, Sky and Dani, after their separation.
