KRG The Don Confirms Bid For Nairobi Senator In 2027, Urges Voter Registration
Kenyan musician and businessman KRG the Don has officially reaffirmed his intention to contest the position of Nairobi Senator in the 2027 General Elections.
Taking to his Instagram account on Monday, November 24, 2025, the artist launched an appeal to Nairobi residents, urging them to prioritize voter registration, framing their vote as essential for shaping the city’s future.
“Take some time off your busy schedule and register as a voter, kwa sababu hio kura yako ndio itachange mambo yetu sote in 2027 General elections,” KRG stated. “Wakazi wa Nairobi, mbele yenu ni kijana wenu [Residents of Nairobi, before you is your youth], this round I have come to tell the residents, the youth, and the women of Nairobi to turn out in large numbers and cast their vote.”
Promising to Address Residents’ Struggles

KRG positioned his early campaign on a platform of unity and addressing the disconnect he perceives between past leadership and the needs of the electorate. He claimed previous leaders have neglected the populace, prioritizing personal interests.
“Najua mmeteseka sana hii Nairobi yetu kwa viongozi ambao hawatupendi sisi. Wanapenda tu mambo yao [I know you have suffered a lot here in Nairobi because of leaders who don’t like us. They only care about themselves],” he said, arguing that many current leaders do not understand local problems because they are “not people of here.”
The musician presented himself as a candidate intrinsically familiar with Nairobi’s issues, ready to work collaboratively with residents for meaningful change.
“Mimi kama kijana wenu niko tayari kuwatumikia pamoja na nyinyi tushikane [As your youth, I am ready to serve you, let’s join hands]. We know Nairobi’s problems. And the problems of Nairobi people cannot be solved by people who don’t live here. Let’s change our Nairobi,” he urged.
KRG the Don’s early announcement allows him ample time to mobilize supporters and fully outline his detailed plans for the city, following his official launch event which was attended by several political figures, including Siaya Governor James Orengo.
